| | Developing your engagement of the world's religions in a number of ways. |
Engagement Challenges. In a series of 21 audio dialogs,
Liz Smith and Tom Shoemaker address the wide variety of questions that concern the world's traditions, such as "What is a soul?" and "Can war ever be justified?" "How do I know I'm real?"
World Media. Various news outlets (e.g.,
National Public Radio, MSNBC.com. Time Magazine and others) have materials that are relevant to the study of the world's
religions. A large list is available here, allowing you to click and listen or even click and watch.
Bibliography. As extensive as
the internet is, there are still millions of books and articles that are not available here. This is a sampler of the best
in the traditional library.
Vocabulary. As you move deeper into
the study of the various traditions, you will inevitably run into the jargon. Oftentimes, the terms are foreign language terms with
fairly accurate English equivalents. At other times, however, the English translation is not quite right on the mark.
